On Tuesday (13/07/2021) we tackled a steady succession of heavy double locks on our journey towards Brentford. This old lock cottage had an outside toilet behind it.

We passed thatched cottages and pensioners walking along the path around Tring Reservoir made comments like “that should keep you fit”, as I struggled to push the lock gates open.

There were fancy new apartments by the Canal & River Trust Services at Bulbourne Junction and the sign told us to switch off our engine while making use of the services so as not to disturb the residents.

We passed a dead pub and an old bridge sign along the way.

We stayed on the Grand Union Canal bypassing the Wendover Arm at Bulbourne Junction.

There was an old Toll House at the lock by the junction.

We were now 38.5 miles from Brentford in West London.

Martin drove down to Tring Railway Station after his online art class and we picked him up for an afternoon cruise to Berkhamstead.

He sent Steve a picture via WhatsApp that he had taken yesterday evening.

More locks and then through an avenue of trees in Berkhamstead.

We moored up and went to Waitrose where Corrall came to pick Martin up.

Brentford - not that far from where you were born.
