Today, Monday 29th March 2021, is forecast to be a bit warmer and even warmer tomorrow. Last night was a bit windy and the boat was bumped against the bank a few time (luckily we have fenders out). All systems on The Duke seem to be working well now and we have a daily routine to optimise living aboard. Our solar panels have been working well over the last few day so we welcome any sunshine.
We walked into Market Drayton with our shopping trolley to get supplies from the colossal B&M Home Store and Garden Centre and LIDL. There are a lot of historic old pubs here, including The Crown pictured below.
In the olden days an Inn was a posh hotel for the travelling rich geared up for accommodation, food and the stabling of horses. A Tavern was the equivalent of a posh wine bar and would offer expensive wines and fortified spirits. Meanwhile the plebs would drink in an Alehouse which would generally be a domestic house with the wife brewing beer in the kitchen.
In the afternoon we watched the first two episodes of “Keeping Faith” series 3 and Steve cycled down the A52 to Aldi to get some Seadog Black Spiced Rum and a folding picnic table for sunny afternoons al fresco dining in the stern.
Another source of entertainment is via the media player on the television playing music from a flash drive in the USB port.
