Monday 1st March 2021
We awoke to a sunny frosty morning and listened to The Archers omnibus before setting off to sort out rubbish disposal, recycling, toilet cassette emptying and water tank filling at Napton. We met Nigel and Gina who live in Napton Lock Cottage (https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/16614835) at the Marston Doles locks and with their help we whizzed through these locks and the five Napton locks. We moored near The Folly public house, which was sadly closed thanks to coronavirus but they are busy building "The Potting Shed" which will meet COVID-19 rules for outdoor drinking and dining in the garden.
On the next narrowboat on the moorings we met the mutual friend (Nicky) of a friend of ours (Sandra) who is currently in lockdown on her narrowboat in Ireland. The boating world is a very small world. We spent an agreeable afternoon with a splendid repast of cheese and wine and cider from Napton Lock Cottage where Nigel lives. We were also able to make use of his washing machine and tumble drier which was much appreciated.
This morning we are off to the local village shop via Napton Cidery.
