Oldbury

Yesterday we chugged out of Birmingham city centre along Birmingham Canal Navigation New Main Line. The canal was very wide and we encountered our first bridges with two arches. We also had to negotiate very narrow passages passed toll islands.

There were an impressive variety of bridges from old metal ones to the huge concrete columns holding up the M5.

We moored up near Bromford Bridge where the Railway Inn was sadly closed. Darrol came to sort out problems with our Webasto heating and some windows that were reluctant to open.

Steve cycled into Oldbury and got some tools in the huge Sainsbury’s in the centre of town, it appears that we will need plenty of tools to keep everything running on the boat!
