Silver Linings

Updated: May 13, 2021

After a family walk into town to explore the centre and take advantage of the 25% off wine deal at ASDA we had a fairly lazy day for a change. Somebody had made the Canal & River Trust toilets near us unusable as it looked like they had tried to empty their Elsan toilet cassette down the sink and blocked it up.

Hilary had picked up a Lee Childs paperback along our cruise, the second Jack Reacher book “Die Trying” and after trying and failing to buy book three on Kindle she bought a physical copy of “Tripwire” from W. H. Smith. Steve bought the first book “Killing Floor” from Amazon on Kindle as Hilary seems to be gripped by these books.

There was a great looking delicatessen in the centre with the smell of their pork and apple sausage rolls wafting out into the street.

Chris Evans on Virgin Radio this morning had been raving about the movie Silver Linings Playbook (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Linings_Playbook) so Steve investigated and discovered that he could rent this film for £2.49 on Google Play. Following an ordeal to prove that he was old enough to access age-restricted content, which seems to be a ploy by Google to make their app unusable on Apple devices, he managed to rent it by using our Windows 10 laptop. It was quite entertaining.

In the evening Steve cycled to the huge B&M Home Store and Garden Centre for some supplies. As he went in a bloke coming out said “I’ll be glad when this lockdown nonsense is over. We should have followed the example of New Zealand, nobody coming in and nobody going out of the country”.

We watched Four in a Bed and Coronation Street (we know how to live) on All4 and ITVhub via our Roku player and Huawei/EE MiFi and went to bed early after Steve had taken Vera to checkout the neighbourhood.
